Field Photography

The Different Methods Of Photography
Photography is one of the budding fields. This field which was not popular until the early 1900s has today become one of the most sought after fields. The camera, a photographer and photography have aided many sectors of business and industry, advertising for example. Photography is a tool indispensably used by the creative field. This field is gaining a lot of popularity in the market and the demand for professional photographers is increasing at an alarming rate. This field is for those who are creative and imaginative. Many people treated photography as a hobby and later developed in to a profession. There are many types and sub fields in this profession and one of them is headshots photography.
Photography is not everyone’s cup of tea. One has to possess a unique skill and talent to get noticed in this field. Each and every photographer possesses some unique and different quality than the rest and that is what makes their work recognized and appreciated. There is much more to photography then just merely clicking pictures. A lot of fine and minute details have to be taken care of in this field. It is the creativity and imagination of photographer that will help him survive in the field of headshots photography.
Headshots photography is among other fields of photography such as wildlife photography, natural photography, artistic photography, portrait photography, Food Photography, underwater photography, aerial photography, sports photography, wedding photography, event photography, Fashion Photography, Glamour Photography, celebrity photography, street photography, candid photography, nude photography, forensic photography, fire photography, secret photography and macro photography. Headshots photography is similar to portrait photography where the focus is mainly on the face and facial expressions. This field is difficult compared to others because the photographer has limited area to focus on. The photographer has to try to make a lot of very little.
For a photographer to be successful his pictures have to say or convey something to the people. When people look at a headshot picture they should be able to relate to it or recognize the main aspect the photographer is trying to explain. Conveying to the people is not an easy job. In headshots photography this is difficult. As this filed concentrates on the face the photographer must know to capture the right emotions at the right time. This field of photography is very popular among the stars and celebrities who hire photographers to bring their image very neatly in front of the public.
This field of headshots photography is being taught at many popular institutions and photography schools at the end of the course the students are offered a certificate or a certified diploma. These courses also give the amateurs a chance to work in the mainstream and exhibit their talent in front of other by means of internships. If you want to become a headshots photographer and you feel that you have it in you to become one then you can start by browsing the net to get more information on photography.

Panoramic Photography $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Panoramic photography is a technique of photography, using specialized equipment or software, that captures images with elongated fields of view. It is sometimes known as wide format photography. The term has also been applied to a photograph that is cropped to a relatively wide aspect ratio. While there is no formal division between wideangle and panoramic photography, wide angle normally refers to a type of lens, but this lens type does not necessarily image a panorama. An image made with an ultra wide angle fisheye lens covering the normal film frame of 1:1.33 is not automatically considered to be a panorama. An image showing a field of view approximating, or greater than, that of the human eye about 160 by 75 may be termed panoramic. This generally means it has an aspect ratio of 2:1 or larger, the image being at least twice as wide as its height. The resulting images take the form of a wide strip. Some panoramic images have aspect ratios of 4:1 and sometimes 10:1, covering fields of view of up to 360 degrees. Both the aspect ratio and coverage of field are important factors in defining a true panoramic image. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Kirlian Photography $71.7 Kirlian photography refers to a form of photogram made with a high voltage. It is named after Semyon Kirlian, who in 1939 accidentally discovered that if an object on a photographic plate is connected to a source of high voltage, small corona discharges create an image on the photographic plate. Kirlians work, from 1939 onward, involved an independent rediscovery of a phenomenon and technique variously called electrography, electrophotography, and corona discharge photography. The Kirlian technique is contact photography, in which the subject is in direct contact with a film placed upon a metal plate charged with high voltage, high frequency electricity. The underlying physics was explored as early as 1777 by Georg Christoph Lichtenberg. Later workers in the field included Nikola Tesla; various other individuals explored the effect in the later 19th and early 20th centuries. Depth of Field $114.71 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In optics, particularly as relates to film and photography, the depth of field (DOF) is the portion of a scene that appears acceptably sharp in the image. Although a lens can precisely focus at only one distance, the decrease in sharpness is gradual on each side of the focused distance, so that within the DOF, the unsharpness is imperceptible under normal viewing conditions. In some cases, it may be desirable to have the entire image sharp, and a large DOF is appropriate. In other cases, a small DOF may be more effective, emphasizing the subject while deemphasizing the foreground and background. In cinematography, a large DOF is often called deep focus, and a small DOF is often called shallow focus. The DOF is determined by the subject distance (that is, the distance to the plane that is perfectly in focus), the lens focal length, the lens fnumber, and the format size or circle of confusion criterion. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 172 Publication Date: 2009/12/08 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.39 inches |

On Photography $81.25 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles On Photography is a 1977 collection of essays by Susan Sontag. It originally appeared as a series of essays in the New York Review of Books between 1973 and 1977. In the book, Sontag expresses her views on the history and presentday role of photography in capitalist societies as of the 1970s. Sontag discusses many examples of modern photography. Among these, she contrasts Diane Arbuss work with that of Depressionera documentary photography commissioned by the Farm Security Administration. She also explores the history of American photography in relation to the idealistic notions of America put forth by Walt Whitman and traces these ideas through to the increasingly cynical aesthetic notions of the 1970s, particularly in relation to Arbus and Andy Warhol. A History of Women Photographers $75 Women have had a special relationship with the camera since the advent of photographic technology in the mid-nineteenth century. Photographers celebrated women as their subjects, from intimate family portraits and fashion spreads to artistic photography and nude studies, including Man Ray’s Violon d’Ingres. Lesser known— and lesser studied— is the history of women photographers, who continue to make invaluable contributions to this flourishing art form.Featuring more than 300 illustrations, A History of Women Photographers is the only comprehensive survey of women photographers from the age of the daguerreotype to the present day. In this edition, author Naomi Rosenblum expands the book’s coverage to include additional photographers and fourteen new images. The text and the appendix of photographer biographies have been revised throughout, and Rosenblum also provides a new afterword, in which she evaluates the influence of rapidly changing digital technology on the field of photography and the standing of women photographers in the twenty-first century. |

A New Heartland: Women, Modernity, and the Agrarian Ideal in America: Women, Modernity, and the Agrarian Ideal in America $65 A New Heartland investigates American rurality and modernity as mutually sustaining concepts, and centers on women’s special engagement with those concepts. Among its central questions are the following: How has a critical emphasis on the modern-urban imaginary obscured rurality’s importance to the American cultural consciousness? In what ways did received attitudes about rurality and nostalgia enable pronounced links between women and the rural? How did actual changes in agriculture reshape interpretive connections between the farm and modernity, and between the farm and women? Finally, how did rurality–traditionally a locus for conservatism–serve as a site through which to challenge orthodox ideas about gender, class, race, commodity consumption, and women’s reproductive rights? This study is distinguished by an interdisciplinary approach that considers idea(l)s of women and rurality across a broad field of discourses and representational arenas, including social theory, periodical literature, literary criticism, photography, and, most especially, women’s rural fiction (“low” as well as “high”). It touches on such diverse subjects as eugenics, advertising, the economy of literary prizes, and the role of the camera in defining women as modern. It also relies on substantial archival research, and explores at length an underrecognized periodical, The Farmer’s Wife, which was the single nationally distributed farm journal for women in the twentieth century. Ultimately, the book’s aim is to articulate an alternative mode of American modernism that had signal meaning and appeal for women, and to show how that mode clearly responded to prevalent attitudes in the culture atlarge. |

A Theory Of Craft $39.99 What is craft? How is it different from fine art or design? In A Theory of Craft, Howard Risatti examines these issues by comparing handmade ceramics, glass, metalwork, weaving, and furniture to painting, sculpture, photography, and machine-made design from Bauhaus to the Memphis Group. He describes craft’s unique qualities as functionality combined with an ability to express human values that transcend temporal, spatial, and social boundaries. Modern design today has taken over from craft the making of functional objects of daily use by employing machines to do work once done by hand. Understanding the aesthetic and social implications of this transformation forces us to see craft as well as design and fine art in a new perspective, Risatti argues. Without a way of understanding and valuing craft on its own terms, the field languishes aesthetically, being judged by fine art criteria that automatically deny art status to craft objects. Craft must articulate a role for itself in contemporary society, says Risatti; otherwise it will be absorbed by fine art or design and its singular approach to understanding the world will be lost. A Theory of Craft is a signal contribution to establishing a craft theory that recognizes, defines, and celebrates the unique blend of function and human aesthetic values embodied in the craft object. |

Alfons Mucha $34.89 This gorgeous volume surveys the entire breadth of Mucha’s work—from illustration and decorative arts to his photography and the historical paintings that were his life’s passion. Alfons Mucha is known largely for having originated Art Nouveau, when his poster of the actress Sarah Bernhardt became a legendary icon of the movement. Mucha went on to design hundreds of pieces in the decorative arts field, but later distanced himself from the style he pioneered, devoting his time and energy to painting. This book presents the full array of Mucha’s artistic contributions—not only his posters and jewelry designs but also his design for the pavilion of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 1900 World’s Fair. The book also includes his works on canvas, which include pastels and frescoes, and his magnum opus, The Slavic Epic, a series of 20 paintings depicting the history of his native people. A stunning selection of 700 color illustrations is accompanied with essays that explore Mucha’s style and inspirations, his transition away from the decorative arts, and his forays into photography. Fans of Art Nouveau will treasure this dazzling and unique study of the artist and his contributions to design and illustration. |

American Exposures: Photography and Community in the Twentieth Century $27.5 Photographs have the power to define and shape a community of people—for those who are revealed as well as for those who view them. Louis Kaplan addresses this phenomenon through a constellation of innovative essays that draw on the artistic renderings of national, ethnic, and global community. Spanning the twentieth century and profusely illustrated, American Exposures sheds light on a wide range of photographs, from Arthur Mole’s propagandistic “living photographs” of American icons and symbols to the exploration of contemporary subcultural communities by the Korean-born photographer and performance artist Nikki Lee, and asserts that the depiction of community is a central component to photography. Examining an eclectic collection of photographers, American Exposures deploys a number of critical concepts and theories developed by Jean-Luc Nancy in The Inoperative Community, as well as other philosophers, and applies them to the field of photography studies. Combining artistic and historical material with interdisciplinary theory, Kaplan moves beyond indexical thinking to demonstrate how an expository approach offers valuable resources with which to analyze visual communication. In doing so, he highlights the distinct powers of both community and photography as discourses of exposure. With an original approach to photography from Edward Steichen’s Family of Man exhibition to Pedro Meyer and the rise of the digital image, Kaplan points to a new way to think about the intimate relationship among photography, American life, and the artistic imagination. Louis Kaplan is associate professor of history and theory of photography and new media in the Graduate Department of History of Art at the University of Toronto; he also coordinates the Visual Culture and Communication program at the University of Toronto at Mississauga. He is the author of Laszlo Moholy-Nagy: Biographical |

Animals That Saw Me $29.95 Roaming the natural and urban world with a camera for over 16 years, often alone, on foot and keeping a low profile, Ed Panar has repeatedly been caught in the act of photography–not by other people, but by a random assortment of familiar animals: cows, cats, frogs, dogs, turtles, deer, geese. The animal sees Ed; Ed sees the animal. An unspoken message passes between them. If the photographer is lucky, the moment is captured on film, cataloged and tagged for future reference. In Animals That Saw Me (Volume One), Panar brings together the first collection of his most surprising and unexpected encounters with ordinary beasts–a brief, beautifully deadpan field study of the uncanny moment of recognition between species. What exactly have these animals seen? Panar’’s photographs serve as a reminder that we must appear at least as strange to them as they do to us. |

Aquatique $25.94 The watery depths of Brian Oglesbee’s photographs beguile the eye. In the world of his evocative and magnificent photography, nothing is quite what it seems. The rich, sensual images of his Water Series, captured here, draw the eye again and again in an ongoing search for the meaning contained in these mysterious figures. These photographs record, without alteration, what was within the field of view of the lens when the film was exposed. Yet the worlds Oglesbee creates–often as elaborately constructed and illuminated as small movie sets–are both paradoxical and richly expressive. Lovingly reproduced in rich quadtone printing, these photographs can be seen here in all their complexity, as they were meant to be seen. At the heart of this photographic series is the artist’s joy of creation. Oglesbee’s fluid photos flow with energy. Each image born of his imagination is, in itself, a universe. Human figures both create these worlds and are born along with them. These figures are as goddesses and gods, at once feminine and androgynous; they are both themsleves in particular and reflections of all who look upon them. No one makes photographs like these. Brian Oglesbee, in his brilliantly creative use of water, has produced true art, magical and beautiful. The images are nothing short of amazing! -Howard Schatz, world renown photographer and author of more than 15 books of photographs |
