I have the halogen work lights and want to use them for photography. Can I put aluminum foil arount the light?

I have the halogen work lights and want to use them for photography. Can I put aluminum foil around the light to have better control at the direction of the light? Want to know if it is safe? Also can I use the photography white umbrellas to diffuse and soften the light from my work light as long as it is in a distance? Are white umbrellas flammable? Thanks!

It will likely work but I sure wouldn’t use them. They throw off so much heat it may be dangerous with foil around them and the umbrellas will burn if overheated.

Get some cheap photo floods from one of the on-line camera stores or an inexpensive set of strobes with modeling lights.
