Cameraman- A Crucial Part of the Film Industry

Cinematographers are usually unknown outside the motion-picture industry even when they are equally important as the movie director. The director of photography is responsible for overall control of film lighting, cinematography and creative use of a movie camera.

He supervises the camera crew, camera operators, assistant cameramen, grips (who handle the dolly or crane), the electrical crew (also called as engineers and gaffers, who actually control the lighting setup).

Just because of prep-time, a cameraman usually takes longer than anyone else in the crew. A cameraman goes to work early and stays till late.
Film Cameras
have many small and delicate pieces, so it must be handled with extreme care. Bigger cameras are more delicate as compared to the smaller ones and have a lot of minute details and pieces fitted within.

A good approach is to thoroughly check every piece of rental camera equipment to ensure that it works the way it is supposed to. Industry-standard tripods and high-end cameras tend to have intricate designs hence the cameraman should have all the knowledge that is required to handle the equipment’s well. Cameraman should be able to execute clean movements so that the lens can capture the required essence without shifting or shaking.

Movement of camera is very crucial because without camera movement, the shots become very boring. If the movements will be jerky or unstable then that can ruin your shot. Hence, a cameraman should be able to hold shots for long takes if it’s hand-held or on a steady system.

Creativity and perseverance are the most desired features in this industry. If you are creative, outspoken and efficient, more people will ask you to work for them. Apart from this, a good camera person should have a bit of knowledge about all the cameras available in the industry and the upcoming features.

One of the genre’s top live metal attractions back home, the 2002 home video/DVD release, The Art of Rebellion: Live features a concert recorded inside a TV studio (in Krakow, Poland) on April 27, 2000. The group (which features their newly instated four-man lineup of singer/guitarist Nergal, guitarist Havoc, bassist Novy, and drummer Inferno) proves to be at the top of their game throughout, as they thrash it out for over an hour. Most of the tracks are expectedly performed at a breakneck tempo (especially “The Entrance to the Spheres of Mars,” which is performed amidst a flurry of strobe lights and lightning-fast guitar riffs), but such tracks as “Driven by the Five Winged Star” show the group slowing things down, albeit momentarily.
